My Phonograph this Morning
My Phonograph this Morning
Old blind man walks through the subway.
singing praises to the lord --
love songs to god.
He can hear them fumbling intently in their pockets
and purses
--He adjusts his phrasing so that
When change clinks in his paper coffee cup
He can pause to say
'God Bless You'
and keep the meter even.
